Review of Queensryche – American Soldier
Anyone who is a true fan of Queensryche is familiar with the concept albums “Operation Mindcrime I & II“. While the story is fictious, the story is very compelling. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Queensryche has raised the ante. “American Soldier” is the latest concept album from Queensryche to hit the shelves. The album follows the life of an American soldier from enlistment through brushes with death on the battlefield to the emotional trauma of missing your family back home and wondering if you will ever make it home alive. Wonderfully written, this album combines the experiences of real soldiers and their voices plus the musicianship of Queensryche, to create a very surreal and moving album.
All of the songs on this album are good but my personal favorite is “Home Again“, track 11. Geoff Tate has a guest appearance with his daughter Emily which is sure to leave you choked up. Whether you are for or against our soldiers fighting abroad one thing is certain, this album puts you in a soldiers uniform and makes you experience everything our men and women go through to fight for you and me and our freedom in this great country the USA! “American Soldier” makes you proud to be an American and proud to be a Queensryche fan!
