Review of John Mayer in St Louis
My mom went to see John Mayer in St Louis on Saturday night. She wrote this review for us. Thanks mom!
I have a few pet peeves when it comes to concerts but the two biggest for me are: not starting on time and sounding just like an album. If I wanted to listen to an album I would stay home and save the money.
Thankfully the concert started exactly at the published time with the opening act, Michael Franti and Spearhead. They had everyone in the crowd rockin with their reggae/calypso sound. They played for an hour and then it took about 20 minutes to convert the stage for John Mayer who played for 110 minutes.
John Mayer surrounds himself with a group of accomplished musicians including Robbie McIntosh on guitar. Robbie McIntosh is a seasoned studio musician who has played with The Pretenders and Sir Paul McCartney. John Mayer is also a very accomplished guitar player and he plays cover songs during his concert along with his hits. Twice he broke in to a cover song in the middle of one of his own songs! This is the second time I have seen John Mayer in concert in the last two years and as Randy Jackson would say, “he’s dope”.
If you want to check out his concert sound pick up the CD “Where The Light Is, John Mayer Live in Los Angeles” from his last tour. You won’t be disappointed!
John Mayer is touring until early April. Get your tickets here!
