Review of Queensryche “American Soldier Tour”
When I tell someone who isn’t a music freak like myself that I am going to see a band like Queensryche most often I hear “I didn’t know they were still around.” I just look at them and smile and say “have you been under a rock or something?”
My wife and I had the privilege of seeing them Friday, May 8, 2009 at the House of Blues in Chicago and it was well worth the three and a half hour drive.
Last year when we saw Queensryche at the House of Blues, lead vocalist Geoff Tate was sick and had to cut the setlist short, we were to say the least very disappointed. This year was a different story! I don’t recall ever seeing a band play 22 songs in one night. Yes I said 22!
The show was divided into three different sections highlighting songs from three different albums. The setlists were as follows:

The band took no intermissions between sets as they banged out hit after hit, sounding just as clear as if you had just popped in their cd! As for the vocals from Geoff the only word that comes to mind is powerful!!
The entire show was simply moving, especially when Geoff’s daughter Emily came out and sang a duet with him on the song “Home Again”, holding on to his hand which brought an uproar from the packed house.
Attending the “American Soldier” tour definitely will make you salute our troops and Queensryche. Can’t wait till the next show!
