Rib Fest 2009 – Review of Night Ranger
For the past two years, Night Ranger has hit the stage at Rib Fest in St Louis. It has rained both years. Night Ranger was playing again this year and there was no rain in the forecast. We were looking forward to our first mudless RibFest and getting to see Night Ranger play all of their hits. All of a sudden, it began to rain. I’m starting to think the band needs to change their name to Night Rainger. Thank goodness it was only a light rain and it only lasted a few minutes. So, not only did Night Ranger bring the rain but they definitely brought the ROCK!
The band started out with “This Boy Needs to Rock” mixed in with a bit of “Highway Star” from Deep Purple to get the crowd on it’s feet from the beginning. And that’s where the crowd stayed, on their feet. The big hit “Coming of Age” from the 80’s side project of lead singer Jack Blades was played. It was no doubt a crowd pleaser as well as the rest of the songs that were played. I don’t remember all of them, but here are a few:

Sentimental Street
When You Close Your Eyes
The Secret of My Success
Eddie’s Comin Out Tonight
Don’t Tell Me You Love Me
The band played two encores, “Sister Christian” and “You Can Still Rock in America“. Throw in an acoustical number in the middle of the show, with a crowd sing-a-long featuring nah nah songs and we had a rocking evening!!
Who knows, maybe the guys will be back next year. Jack Blades has relatives in the St. Louis area. He introduced his 85 year old Aunt Stella and even danced with her on stage.
Britne and I also met some new friends, Fred and Janice. It was great meeting them and seeing Night Ranger rock St. Louis at Rib Fest once again!

Night Ranger is playing a few more dates. If you’re a fan, try to attend one of these shows. They really put on a very energetic show and they still sound great !!
