2009 South Texas Rockfest dates announced
Dates for 2009 South Texas Rockfest have been announced. It will be held May 22 through 24 in downtown San Antonio. Last year’s music festival was held at the Javelina Harley Davidson grounds near San Antonio, TX. Last year’s lineup rocked featuring some great 80’s bands:
AXE, House of Lords, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bullet Boys, Skid Row, Dokken, Queensryche, Mad Margritt, Zero Hour, Bang Tango, LA Guns, Faster Pussycat, UFO, Stephen Pearcy of RATT, Y & T, Tesla, Jokester, Ozz Knozz, The Godz, Helix, Fire House and Jackyl.
Let’s hope this year’s lineup is great too!! We’ll keep you posted about future lineup announcements.
Ok. What the hell happened? My sister and I had the greatest time in Boerne making plans for 2009. Wanting to spend even more money than in 2008. We wanted the Ultra VIP VIP!! Now we are searching and find out its happening in San Antonio? I live in San Antonio. Where the hell would you have a place big enough with the same outdoor feel that rock needs for proper acoustic sound? We are dissappointed to say the least. Take it back! We are planning to go to Oklahoma for goodness sake. I am constantly looking for rock n roll happening places. Houston is looking good as well. Who do I need to talk to? Give me a name and number and I will speak to them personally convincing them that Boerne was the place to play the glam/heavy metal/hard rock everyone loves to hear in Texas.

If you didn’t make money in Boerne, Where are you gonna make money in San Antonio. If you are bitchin about money, how are you gonna make ends meet in the busy, more expensive city of San Antonio. You were lucky enouph to have Javelina Harley Davidson accept your metal butts on their grounds. Take what you can get until you have proven yourself worthy enough to ask for a spot in the big city. I think you are getting too big for your britches. I WANT ROCKFEST BACK IN BOERNE!! You don’t know what you’ve got until its gone…(Cinderella).
and another thing…WHY? Sinn and I are pissed. You just pulled the carpet out from under out heavy metal asses and decided the best place to play glam rock/hard rock/rock n roll is San Antonio. Did you not know Rap is growing there and fast. Boerne is the only haven for outdoor fun. WE love metal and finally a place in texas (other than Houston) that acknowledges the rock tthrives in the great outdoors. Take it back!! I agree with Sinner and Roxy a 110%. What the hell is going on? Man, Texas is infested with this hiphop rap bullshit and I am so sick and tired of it. I am seriously considering moving to German or where ever the rock is still alive. When the rockfest happened last year I was in Heavy Metal Heaven. I thought this is it, I am hooked. I made so many friends there and we all agreed to meet there next year. We were especially excited when one of the announcers said “When we do this again next year, how many of you will be back?” All of us yelled ” WE WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!” So we thought hey great See Ya Next Year. Now, theres not going to be a next year. This f@$%ing sucks and I am so disappointed in who ever stopped the rock in Borne. Thanks for raining on our parade. Now, for sure this year will be the last time a rock festival is ever going to be held in Texas. This years fest is going to suck and they are just going to cancel every thing all together. No matter I will find somewhere to rock my ass off. May the dust never settle Heavy Metal will never die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You go Heavy Metal Mamma!! Someone else knows our pain. Germany is the place to be for the true Headbanger. I am a Texan and proud of it, however, I will not listen to anything else but Heavy Metal. I remember when at the Rockfest everyone was so excited to see each other in 2009. I was even gonna use my house as a haven for the fellow rockers to crash. I live in Pipe Creek, Texas. Anyway, I have been searching near and far for the right outlet to go crazy and rock till i drop. Bring Back Boerne and I will be there so fast it will make your head spin. Thanks for at least taking the time to read about how you let us all down.

I am also tired of this R&B (RAP AND BULL@#$%). I also had a bad ass time in Boerne Tx. We also think that it was a great place to have it again. There were alot of younger kids there that had a blast and said that they would come back. But moving it to SA, just sucks. Whomever moved it “you are killing rock concerts for us and the younger crowds that can keep it going. I am from Hondo and half of the town was there and we were all looking forward to coming again every year. I will be there this year but it better be better than it was last year and we want to see some great bands not some new groups that can’t make the guitars scream and talk. You know what i mean?
It sounds like last year’s South Texas Rockfest was a blast! I wish we could have been there. Hopefully this year’s fest will be even better despite the fact that it has been moved to a new venue. We’ll keep you updated on announcements about the lineup.
Oh man! What’s the deal. San Antonio? Don’t get me wrong. San Antonio is a rockin’ town but you can’t camp in San Antonio. Maybe that’s the point who knows but last years South Texas Rock Fest was a step in the right direction for sure with the open area, the camp site and the best campsite contest. Was hoping it would be even better this year but it doesn’t appear to be the case. I won’t be attending this year. Does’nt sound like any heart is in it this this year. Whatever the case sorry to see it drop to what it has. Oh well. To bad Rocklahoma is to far away from here. Thought the STRF was going to measure up but I was wrong.
