The 2010 Rockstar Mayhem Festival begins on July 10 in San Bernadino, CA and ends on August 14 in Oklahoma City, OK. Bands have been announced!

KORN at Rockfest 2009

Korn was the closing band on Sunday and Rockfest started on Thursday. So for the three days leading up to Sunday, I kept thinking to myself I wonder if Cadott, WI is ready for a band like Korn. Yeah, they have had some hard rockin bands before, but maybe not so loud and angry like Korn. Well, Cadott, WI proved ready for the challenge.

I’m not sure but possibly setting an attendance record, there had to be more people on the lawn than I have ever seen before! I was a little worried about the VIP seating because I didn’t think many of the older folks would care to see a band this hard but it was full. I think it was the train wreck effect, they just had to watch!

Korn definitely rocked the house with a mixture of old hits and some new ones. A bagpipe interlude was cool along with a sing-a-long or two especially “Y’all Want a Single” which if you are familiar with the words it provided a funny scene as 20,000 plus people sang “F$&k that, F$*k that !”

A couple more highlights for me were when they ripped into Metallica’s “One“, my favorite part which goes “Darkness imprisoning me….” The crowd erupted! I don’t think there was a head in the crowd that wasn’t banging at that point. Also the closing of the show with a couple of Pink Floyd numbers “Another Brick In The Wall” and “Goodbye Cruel World” provided an excellent finish to the show.

The only drawback was not letting anyone down close to the stage to get pictures. I think the officials at Rockfest might have been worried about some moshing going on. This was my third time seeing Korn and they just keep getting better and better. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll be able to sit on stage behind the band like the two young girls did for the entire show. I’m not sure but they might have been bass player Fieldy’s daughters. I already know, you don’t have to say it, I need to stop dreaming!!

Korn is playing two more outdoor music festivals this summer. Rockfest in Council Bluffs, IA also featuring Mudvayne, Black Label Society, Static X and more. Edgefest 5 in Little Rock, AK also featuring Mudvayne, Black Label Society, Static X and more.

2009 Rock On The Range – Lineup Announced and Ticket Info

Rock On The Range, aka ROTR, has announced the dates, bands and location for the 3rd year of the music festival. This year’s festival will be held May 16 and 17, 2009 at the Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH, the same venue as last year. The festival will feature three stages this year and more than 35 bands. The bands that have been announced are:

In 2007, the first year for the festival, 30,000 people attended. In 2008 that number increased to 55,000. I would expect that number to be even higher in 2009 with the announcement of some of rock’s biggest artists in the lineup. Tickets go on sale Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM ET with VIP packages that include tickets, hotel accommodations and festival merchandise. ROTR is also featuring an on-line recycling trade-in program this year in effort to “Go Green”. Fans can recycle their old cell phones and MP3 players for “swag bucks” which can be used to earn free tickets and ROTR memorabilia and offcial festival merchandise.
