The festival is held at Knoch Park in Naperville, IL. Tickets are available at the gate for $12 per person and children under 11 are free. Tickets are available in advance for $9 per person at the Naperville Park District and Jewel grocery store locations in Naperville.

There are also Ribfest Dancing Bull Party Deck tickets available for $100. This includes an elevated party deck with a great view of the stage, barbeque available from 5 – 8 PM, guaranteed admission to Ribfest, all beer, wine and soda from 5 – 9:30 PM and dedicated restrooms for party deck attendees. The first two songs on the album “Cosmic Universal Fashion“, and “Psycho Vertigo” are reminiscent of the Van Halen days.  “Cosmic“ has undertones similar to the 1991 song by Van Halen “Right Now” (especially if you watch the video), while “Psycho Vertigo” has the background vocals that make you feel like you are listening to the band when Sammy was the frontman.  This album has a variety of songs like “Peephole” which is about child abuse, “Switch on the light” telling us to get off the couch, and “When The Sun Don’t Shine“  with a slower beat making you feel like you are on the sand in the islands.

In true Red Rocker party fashion, this album is full of upbeat party songs.  The eighth song on the album is “24365″ which obviously says it all with a salute to serious partyers.  Another is the cover of the classic by the Beastie Boys “Fight For Your Right to Party“.  Musically the song is okay, but a little slower than the original.  It sounds to me like it probably wasn’t the right choice for Sammy.  Song number nine is called “I’m On a Roll“ with a salute to the racing industry.  My favorite song on the album which is sure to make your speakers blow,  is the fourth song “Loud“.  It’s subject matter includes: driving in your car jammin, having sex, and Sammy on stage fulfilling his dreams.

The last song on the album is a live compilation of the songs “Dreams” and “Cabo” in concert.  I usually don’t like live songs on an album but Sammy states, “All of his life he has dreamed of being on stage like this right now” and this song especially makes you feel like you are right there with him.  All in all, this album has something for everyone, great variety and as always some kick ass rock!  Keep them coming Sammy! The album will be released on November 18, 2008. Be sure to check it out.

Anthony is currently working on an album with Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith, drummer from Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their band is called “Chickenfoot”. Their first album is due out sometime next year.

Camping is not included with ticket purchase. There is a reserved camping area and some of these sites have electric hookups, and there is general camping. If you are camping with a group, reserved camping is the way to go. The general camping is assigned as you arrive and they will not hold sites for late arrivals. Shower facilities are provided for all campers. The restroom facilities are portable.

Good lineup! There are also 2 other stages, the Lazy Moon Acoustic Stage and the Saloon Stage, which feature regional bands most of the day.

I have not ever attended Moondance Jam so I can’t tell you what the experience is like, but I personally am wondering about the pricing. It seems a little high to me. The VIP tickets are $425 for a 4 day pass. There is only dinner and appetizers included, and of course drinks during the show. (Some festivals serve lunch also) This is close to what I would expect to pay for VIP. The camping is what seems high to me. Of course the camping is an additional fee which is the way most festivals offer it, but it is additional per person, not campsite. The per person fee ranges from $80 to $100 and then the site fees are $25 for reserved and $200 – $250 for reserved electrical camping. There isn’t a site fee for general camping, just the per person fee. I have always paid a set fee for a campsite no matter how many people were sleeping there. Most festivals do restrict their campsites to one sleeping unit though.

Have any of you attended Moondance Jam? If so, how do you feel about the pricing? Maybe the porta potties are kept very clean and the shower facilities are awesome. These types of services could justify the additional cost. Let me know what you think.
